The Zone
Welcome to Children's Ministries "IN THE ZONE."
A place where kids will meet Christ through opportunities that will keep them
focused on the purpose to which God has called them. Through committed
Shepherds, creative curriculum, and positive peer influence, your child will
develop the qualities that will produce a fruitful follower of Jesus Christ.
Throughout Children's Ministry, from Nursery through Fifth Grade, your child
will have the chance to Know Christ, Grow In Christ, Serve Christ and Share
Christ. The two main places this will occur will be on Sunday Mornings and
Wednesday evenings. Sunday Mornings your child will attend a "Zone" that
is structured to develop a specific area of growth that is Biblically grounded.
Wednesday evenings from 6:30-8:00 your child will go to "The Break Zone", for a
small group experience designed for children wanting to go deeper into God's
word. Additionally, a variety of other programs will be offered throughout the
year with the intent to fully develop Disciples of Christ.
"The Zone" - Sunday Mornings 10:45-12:00
Nursery age through Fifth Grade
Discovery Zone - Nursery - age 4
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Psalm 139:14
It is in
the Discovery Zone a child will have his/her first experience with
understanding who God is and why God loves us. Through the caring arms and
words of ministry workers, your child learns that God is the Creator.
Reinforced with theme curriculum, our Nursery staff and volunteers provide
opportunities and access to develop beginning skills and knowledge that
plant the first seeds toward opening their heart to Jesus. At 2 years of
age children start becoming engaged as they participate in a classroom
setting learning Bible Stories, music and crafts.
Adventure Zone - Kindergarten - First Grade
Do not merely listen to the Word...Do what it says.
James 1:22
Through
Bible stories and music, children in the Adventure Zone, begin to understand
God and how to make choices based upon His Word. With a scope and sequence
curriculum, children will hear foundational stories from the Old and New
Testament, such as Moses and the 10 Commandments, Jonah and the Whale and
the Miracles of Jesus. These stories, along with life applications, help
grow your child with a desire to make choices for Jesus. Each age group has
an age-appropriate expectation with First Graders learning the Lord's Prayer
and receiving a Bible.
Construction Zone - Second and Third Grade
For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
Ephesians 2:10
Understanding
that God has a plan and purpose for His children, The Construction Zone
continues to build on the truths of Jesus. Through group fellowship,
children get the opportunity to connect Bible stories with today's reality
and start living out their faith. Small groups are formed to deepen peer
relationships. Topics of salvation, baptism and Communion are discussed and
memorizing the Books of the Bible, The Twelve Disciples and the Great
Commission are expectations.
Rally Zone - Fourth and Fifth Grade
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight.
Proverbs 3:5.6
Here,
children develop skills to put their faith into action and take ownership of
who they are in Christ. Topics such as fellowship, giving, spiritual
giftedness, responsibility, leadership and servanthood, are not just
discussed but are opportunities given to each child in order to grow closer
to Christ. Memorization of Scripture, the Ten Commandments, and the
Apostles Creed are expectations.
Worship Zone - Sunday Mornings 9:00 Service
Children's Church - age 3 through Kindergarten
Young Musicians - First through Fifth Grade
During our first service (9:00) children have the opportunity to be engaged in an age-appropriate setting for Worship.
Children's Church, for ages 3-Kindergarten, is designed to help children come into the presence of God with reverence, gratitude and praise. Using hands-on figurines, children "see" the Bible stories of God's people come to life and are given the opportunity to internalize God's truth.
First through Fifth Graders can be part of Young Musicians. Learning to discover and to use musical gifts, children will participate in leading Worship among their peers and also with the entire church family several times each year. A basic understanding of music will be taught and elements of service will be included. A seasonal performance each Spring will be offered.
